Stone Creek 7/20/2010 Meeting Notes

7/20/2010 7:00 pm HOA meeting

Board members present: Jeremiah Bennett, Chad Jacobs, Jason Griffin, Michelle Weatherspoon

Absent: Joe Thompson

Main items discussed:
1-Playground equipment
2-Lighting
3- Fence and roads

Playground equipment:

The Board presented the idea of removing the current play equipment in the common area and installing a Rainbow system play set. Three different options were presented which varied in range from $5K-$8K. This price would include the railroad ties outlining an area around the play set where mulch would go.

Lighting:

Chad Jacobs discussed landscaping lighting at the front entrance which would shine up at the sign. Estimates obtained for hard wired lighting would be approximately $8K-$10K while solar lighting would be approximately $4K-$5K. It was stressed that we do not currently have the infrastructure in place at the front entrance for hard wired lighting; an electrical box is on only one side of the road. As such, who ever installed the lighting would have to drill under the road. This is the reason that the quotes came back so high.

The discussion then opened up to the street lights in the neighborhood and the inadequate lighting in the back common area. Several residents expressed concerns about teenagers loitering in the back common area and stressed that adequate lighting could deter that type of activity. The Board indicated that a light could be installed in the back at an approximate cost of $3.6K. This would include the upgraded light poles that are currently in Stone Creek as well as installation by the city. It was also suggested that a sign be installed at the common area indicating that it was closed at dark and there would be no trespassing or loitering.

Fence and roads:

It was pointed out that the back fence had recently been damaged by the flood and it was Stone Creek’s responsibility for fixing it. A community day was discussed to do fence repairs. A date in early fall was to be determined.
The flood also damaged the road on Notting Hill. Halcomb had recently done a patch job on the damaged areas that was inadequate and is ultimately responsible for fixing the road to the city’s standard before he will be released from his bond.

Further discussion on improvements and monetary needs:

Jeremiah Bennett stressed that the current budget does not allow for improvements such as the playground or lighting and contributions would be needed from the residents in order for any of the purchases to occur. If each resident pledged $100 dollars all the front lighting and play set equipment could be purchased.
Pledge cards were passed out to the residents that were present asking for the amount that they would be willing to pledge. The purpose of the pledge cards were to gauge interest in the improvements and to see if enough residents were willing to donate to make collecting the funds worth while. A separate fund would be set up specifically for neighborhood improvements and would be maintained only for that purpose.

Additional items:

Several residents expressed concerns on the drainage. It was indicated that damaged had occurred to the drainage area on the property by the small retention pond at the end of Pittman. It was also pointed out that there was standing water behind 1025 and 1027 Pittman. The board pointed out that Halcomb is also responsible for repairing the drainage before he will be released from his bond.

One resident pointed out that a street light is flickering in front of 1022 Notting Hill.

The annual meeting was set for October the 28th. All further discussions/complaints were postponed until that date. It was also stressed that two new board members would be elected at the annual meeting.

Dog Attack

Just to let others know that our Pomeranian was attacked about 2 weeks ago. We found her on the front door step of a home directly in front of our house but on the other street (Pittman). We did not see the attack happen. We let her out in our front yard to use the bathroom and she did not return when we called her as she usually does. Therefore, we went looking for her immediately. She is not one to wonder off unless its to the corner of our neighbors home. She was outside for less than 2 mins when we called for her to come in.

According to the vet it was a big dog that attacked her. It bit her across the back and ended up shredding muscles and leaving extremely large puncture wounds in multiple places. She is very fortunate to have survived the attack according to the Vet. We are asking if anyone in the neighborhood saw this event happen to please let us know. We are not looking to blame anyone, just to make the owner and others aware of this incident.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Anyone teach piano lessons???

Does anyone in Stone Creek teach piano and doesn't cost a fortune? Or do you know of someone close by that does? We are not looking for recital worthy teaching, just the basics for now. My 8 year-old daughter wants a keyboard for Christmas, along with piano lessons. I would like for her to begin lessons in January. If you or someone you know is capable of teaching piano to an 8 year old, please email me at haber04@bellsouth.net.

Thanks,
Melissa

Goodbye Guinea Hen

You may have noticed that Stone Creek's unofficial mascot (the guinea hen) has not been seen wandering the streets of the subdivision in the past few days.  She was tragically killed by on oncoming car on Big Station Camp Blvd.  She will be sadly missed.  Although I'm sure those whose yards she frequented will probably not miss her so much.

Sad news

Matt & Jayme Lingo lived at 1030 G for a couple years before moving to Ohio. Many of you will remember them. Sadly, Matt was killed in a car wreck on Saturday. Click here for the article.

I just wanted to open this up to the neighborhood, since it will be taking place right in your backyard. The fee is $30 (20 minute session) with 1 - 5x7 and 8 wallets (guaranteed back by Easter) or $50 (20 minute session) with a copyright released disk of all pictures. Solicitation

The solicitation in our neighborhood is ridiculous right now and shame on the Avon lady for just tossing her magazines next to our mailboxes and trashing our streets (I watched her do it).

HOA - Restriction Suggestions

From the Stone Creek HOA Board: Feb 5, 2009

Until this point our neighborhood & HOA have been operating strictly under the restrictive covenants of the subdivision. In an effort to "put a little meat on the bone" we are compiling & strengthening the list of neighborhood restrictions & violations. We will be using lists from various other local subdivisions as a guide, but would also like to have your input.

Anything & everything that you would like to see restricted and/or enforced will be considered. The board will review all submissions for proper adherence to the existing covenants and cohesion with the direction of the subdivision. We will then compile an enforceable list for our Subdivision.

We will be gathering these suggestions over the next 2-3 weeks. Please feel free to submit them on this blog thread as a comment or email the board members directly.

President: Joe Thompson - jthompson.stonecreek.hoa@gmail.com
Vice-President: Tim Morgan - timmorganstonecreek@gmail.com
Secretary/Treasurer: Michelle Weatherspoon - m.weatherspoon@yahoo.com
Board Member: Jeremiah Bennett - jlbmiami@comcast.net

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Parking in the street

The issue of people parking on the street on a regular occurence or for a long period of time needs to seriously be addressed.
